In today's world where every day a new slang is invented, it's hard to keep up and keep in with the conversations. It makes you wonder are you so out of sync? What can you do to keep up. I doubt I'll get cool now. I know what you mean with words and their provenance and correct use. One of my favourites is gazumped (when you lose out in the housing market), the sound and phonetics say it all. Totally gazumped must be just how you feel when you realise that you won't be moving to that dream house, ho hum
